Box Score 2 Senior right-hander
Josh Samuelson held Missouri S&T to four hits in pitching Rockhurst to a 4-1 victory over Missouri S&T in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday night at RU's Loyola Park.
Samuelson, 1-4, went the distance in his third start of the season. He struck out seven and walked five in seven innings. The Miners broke up his shutout in the sixth inning.
The Hawks scored two runs in the first on RBI singles from
Patrick Chandler and
Tyler Gans.
Nick Lichtenberger added a two-run double to right-center in the fifth. Lichtenberger led the 10-hit Rockhurst attack with three hits.
Brandon Tangney and Gans both collected two two hits.
Missouri S&T shut down the Hawks, 5-0, in the first game. The Miners collected 13 hits and stranded 13 runners. S&T scored four runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Tangney went 2-for-4 to pace the Hawks.
Thomas Woodard, 5-5, allowed 11 hits and three runs over seven-plus innings.
The Hawks (18-25, 13-21 GLVC) close out the regular season at home against Missouri S&T at 2 p.m. Monday.
