Gauto-Mariotti, Lazenby earn Academic All-District honors

Rockhurst senior tennis players Rodolfo Gauto-Mariotti and John Lazenby were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Director of America.

In the classroom, Gauto-Mariotti entered the spring semester with a 3.99 grade point average. He will graduate in December with a degree in economics. Lazenby, a biology major with a 3.93 GPA, graduated this spring and will enter veterinary school at the University of Missouri in the fall.

Gauto-Mariotti is a three-time CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District honoree and was named an Academic All-American last season. He received the ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award earlier this spring. Gauto-Mariotti was named to the All-Conference Team after posting a 17-7 record singles and 19-8 record in doubles.
Lazenby finished with an 8-3 record in singles and 7-6 record in doubles this season. He is a two-time winner of the GLVC Scholar-Athlete Award for Men's Tennis.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Sports in the at-large program consist of women's bowling, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, women's rowing, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo and men's wrestling.
