The Rockhurst women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to 41st-ranked Lewis in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament on Friday at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis. Rockhurst will meet Indiananpolis in the third-place match of the GLVC Tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Kim Vrugteveen and Kim de Groot were winners in No. 2 doubles, while Abby Kayser and Alex Schelble captured the No. 3 doubles match over Lewis. The Flyers went on to win four singles matches.

The Hawks opened the tournament with a 5-1 victory over Bellarmine in the quarterfinals earlier Friday. Vrugteveen and de Groot won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-3. Kayser and Schelble were victorious in No. 3 doubles by an 8-4 score.

Karsyn Betts, Vrugteveen and Christine Schatz captured their singles matches. Betts won No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4. Vrugteveen was a winner in No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Schatz won in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Betts and Schatz were named to the All-GLVC Women's Tennis Team Thursday night. Betts is a two-time All-GLVC honoree.
